KEF KF92 subwoofer at the little audio company

kef kf92 subwoofer

Rather than being a serious home theatre subwoofer with a suitably serious price tag, the KF92 is relatively budget in comparison to many other serious subwoofers with similar musical qualities. While the KF92 has been designed to compliment the R Series loudspeakers and act as an extension to the already ample bass they produce, being a sealed design it will be easy to integrate into most speaker systems, large or small.

The clean, low distortion output will allow the KF92 to blend seamlessly with the rest of the R Series - a second KF92 can be added (or more) for better coverage in large rooms, and higher output or even more impact..

The KF92 subwoofer uses dual 9" bass drivers, based on those of the existing R Series loudspeakers. Each of these bass driver has its own dedicated 500w amplifier - twice the power of the R400b it replaces.

The sealed box design produces a more even in-room bass response than ported subwoofers, and is easier to integrate into the average room too.

One area where sealed subwoofers tend to excel is "punch" - the impact of a bass note or explosion is delivered with more force than a ported subwoofer, and with better speed, conveying better definition for more accurate reproduction for both music and movies.

The sealed KF92 subwoofer uses force cancelling technology, something KEF has refined over decades of loudspeaker design. This feature reduces distortion, as any force created internally by one driver is cancelled out by the other, removing cabinet vibrations and producing cleaner bass for your hi-fi or home theatre system.

DSP processing brings iBX technology (Intelligent Bass Extension), which works with both amplifier and drivers to maximise output and low down performance - helping the KF92 produce a frequency response of  11Hz-200Hz (at -3dB), which is far greater than that of the R400b.

With iBX analysing and overseeing the output of the KF92, output dynamics at all frequencies are also maximised, with the KF92 being capable of 110dB output.

As well as the usual RCA inputs, speaker level inputs are also provided, allowing it to be integrated easier into hi-fi systems that lack bass management.
