perlisten S5s effects speakers

As with all Perlisten loudspeakers, the S5s is centred around the DPC array (read more here), comprising of three 28mm domes in a vertical array. The centre Beryllium dome is the HF unit, covering frequencies above 4.4kHz. The output from this unit is controlled on the horizontal plane to reduce dispersion to focus on the listening position, reducing HF reflection from side walls. Vertically, its output is highly controlled, vastly reducing floor and ceiling reflections.

The flanking TPCD carbon 28mm midrange domes cover between 1.25kHz and 4.4kHz, producing a more responsive midrange that is far less coloured by what would conventionally be a larger driver.

As the S5s are primarily designed as a wall-mounted effects speaker, the DPC array sits below a 7" bass driver covering from 1.25kHz downwards, acting in a sealed cabinet making them perfect for wall mounting. They're flexible enough to also be used as all five loudspeakers in a wall-mounted 5.1 surround system, for example, for those wanting a non in-wall, but discrete high performance system.

The S5s will cover 80Hz-20kHz within only a very narrow +/-1.5dB deviation, with typical against-wall placement providing a bass response down to 33Hz, and produce a peak output of 111dB.

All of this tech helps the S5s achieve a THX Dominus rating, capable of effortlessly filling large rooms with cinema levels of surround effects action.
