Technics' first product appeared in 1965 - a sealed, two-way speaker system. The next few years saw the release of the 10A and 20A stereo pre and power amplifier in 1966, the 50A integrated amplifier in 1969, and the world's first Direct Drive turntable in 1970. The latter had a revolutionary effect on the audio world, with radio stations adopting the SP10 as their broadcasting standard turntable, depsite being designed for the domestic market.  The SL1200 followed in 1972 as a more affordable domestic alternative to the SP10, and due to its bombproof build quality and reliability, became THE turntable for club DJs worldwide.
