amphion krypton 3x loudspeakers
Amphion produce a range of studio monitors on which music, such as Billie Eilish, is mixed and mastered. They need to faithfully convey the captured performance, and allow the producer to be able to hear every nuance of the recording in order to accurately produce a final version. Amphion's domestic loudspeakers follow the same, simple approach to sound reproduction.

All Amphion loudspeakers are built around their titanium dome tweeter and its waveguide. The carefully sculpted waveguide evenly controls the dispersion to focus on the listening position and reduce high frequency reflection from walls, floors, and ceilings. The result is a very even in-room response that remains composed and smooth even in reflective rooms.
Titanium offers a lighter, stiffer alternative to aluminium, which allows the 25mm dome to reproduce the majority of what you hear - all the way down to 1600Hz. This is unusually low compared to most loudspeakers, but allows more of the frequency range to benefit from the waveguide, and sound more like a point-source loudspeaker.
Flanking the HF dome are two 8" papyrus midrange drivers. This may seem overkill for just midrange, especially as most manufacturers choose to keep their midrange drivers as small as possible. Their size not only gives the Kryptons a large midrange presence, but also vast midrange headroom, never exhibiting any signs of compression.
These two drivers also cover all the way down to 160Hz too, so they allow most of the signal they produce to be presented in a more point-source fashion.
Each midrange driver is in its own triangular compartment, which is vented at the sides, allowing the drivers to "breathe" in the same way as open back headphones in comparison to sealed ones, eliminating compression and any effects from soundwaves coming back at the drivers from behind. This helps produce an extremely even in-room response, and a very natural sounding midrange performance.
With the tweeter and dual midrange reaching right down to 160Hz, covering over 99% of what we can potentially hear, the remainder is taken car of by a lightweight, aluminium 10" bass driver situated on the lower side of each cabinet. The can be used facing inwards or outwards, whichever sounds more suited to the room or your tastes.
This long-throw driver reaches down to 21Hz at -3dB, and is ported out at the back of the cabinet directly behind the centrepoint of the front driver array It is the same driver used in Amphion's top pro studio base system.
Along with an improved HF unit, the newly released Krypton 3x includes a greatly improved crossover design, further enhancing the Krypton's capabilities. The more conventional look of the Kryptons keeps them at a highly competitive price point in comparison to many other "statement" designs, bringing a level of performance rarely found at their price point.
The Kryptons are available in matte black and white finishes, as well as a real wood walnut veneer.
