audiolab 6000a integrated amplifier
The Audiolab 6000a is a very flexible integrated amplifier, offering digital and analogue inputs, including a Moving Magnet phono input for adding a turntable, and an HDMI eARC input, making it easy to integrate into an AV system or use the 6000a to route your TV sound through for better quality.
As with all Audiolab amplifiers, there are three dials on the fascia - volume, input select, and "mode", which selects between integrated / pre / pre-power. The PRE mode disconnects the power amplification, allowing the 6000a to be used solely as a pre-amplifier when connecting an external power amplifier. PRE-POWER allows inputs into the pre-amplifier section to be routed out to an external processor (such as an AV processor), and routed back into the power amp input of the 6000a to then be fed to the loudspeakers. This option can also be chosen when wanting to use the 6000a purely as a power amplifier in an AV setup.
For analogue sources, the 6000a provides for three line level RCA inputs, and a turntable input catering for Moving Magnet cartridges. A pair of RCA inputs to allow the 6000a to be easily integrated into a home theatre system, and a pair of outputs allows the addition of an external power amplifier.
On the digital side, a pair of optical and a pair of coaxial inputs cover up to 24bit/192kHz. An HDMI eARC input facilitates connection to a suitably equipped TV, routing audio from the TV through your hi-fi system. A Type A USB connection is included for software updates.
The Sabre ESS9018 DAC aids high quality wireless streaming from phones and tablets is possible by Type 5 Bluetooth, catering for aptX HD and LDAC formats.
The 6000CDT Compact Disc Transport perfectly complements the 6000a amplifier, using the same physical form, layout, and display. The 6000CDT is purely digital, connecting to the 6000a via a single digital connection to utilise the high quality DAC in the amplifier.
