JVC DLA-NZ900 home theatre projector

JVC DLA-NZ900 home theatre projector,
4K UltraHD projector,
JVC at the little audio company,

JVC's new high-end home theatre projectors further push the boundaries of domestic projector capabilities, providing a far more immersive experience compared to big, extremely heavy TV screens. Increasing light output, improving dynamic range, as well as providing 3D viewing, something TVs no longer support. Using an acoustically transparent screen allows fully correct placement of hidden loudspeakers, rather than the compromises of placing them around a TV screen. And of course, a screen can be retractable, making it invisible when not in use.

You really can't beat a projector for a more cinema-like experience.

DLA-NZ900 front,

The ultimate quality of a projector not only rests on its resolution - it will rely heavily on the quality of the lens and light output capability. The NZ900 uses a 18 element, all-glass, 100mm lens, which projects the image from a 3-chip (0.69") D-ILA device. this produces a native 4K image, capable of displaying 8K using its e-ShiftX function, essentially upscaling the 4K signal to an 8K one. The BLU-Escent laser diode light source is capable of 3300 lumens light output, with a native contrast of 150,000:1 - ideal for high dynamic range content.

The NZ900 provides two HDMI inputs, both 2.3 spec capable of 48Gbps data rate, covering anything up to 4K at 120fps (great news for gamers) or e-Shift 8K at 60fps. A 12v trigger, RJ45 LAN input, and RS232 connection are provided. Firmware updates can be made via a USB Type A connection.

NZ900 back panel,

The NZ900 covers BT709, BT2020, DCI, and HDR picture modes, including HDR10 and HDR10+ high dynamic range modes. The Frame Adapt HDR feature tone maps HDR content frame by frame, improving HDR capabilities even further, as well as gamma processing. Within Frame Adapt HDR, the Theater Optimizer function uses screen size and gain data to intelligently adjust tone-mapping.

Its Low Latency mode makes it better suited for console and PC gaming, reducing latency.

FRAME ADAPT HDR performs real-time tone mapping for any HDR10 content on a scene by scene or frame by frame basis, improving gamma processing accuracy, producing smoother and finer gradation.

THEATER OPTIMIZER works within the above feature, analysing usage environments using the screen gain information, intelligently adjusting tone mapping.

HDR QUANTIZER provides brighter and more dynamic HDR images.

FILMMAKER MODE faihtfully recreates the Director's intentions.

CLEAR MOTION DRIVE improves moving images, supporting up to 4K 60p (4:4:4).

ISF C3 (Certified Calibration Controls) mode reproduces optimised picture quality for specific environments.
