The new Lumin P1 pre-amplifier / music streamer has many strings to its bow. Not only is it a high-end music streamer providing the usual slick streaming Lumin is known for, but it can also act as a DAC with numerous inputs. And finally, as well as being a fixed output stand alone DAC, it can also act as a high-end pre-amplifier for use with power amplifiers and active loudspeakers.

 

The P1 will not only streaming your own network stored music to your hifi system, giving you to access to Spotify, QOBUZ, and TIDAL Connect streaming services - the latter providing full MQA compatibility - but also thousands of internet radio stations via TuneIn. Fully Roon compatible, the P1 is able to present you with a wealth of artist and album information at your fingertips.

 

AirPlay provides wireless streaming from Apple phones and tablets.

Full MQA decoding of TIDAL Masters and digital MQA files, with an MQA icon and  QOBUZ hi-res icon denoting suitable tracks within the Lumin control app.

Dual ESS Sabre ESS9028Pro DAC chips provide digital to analogue conversion, capable of PCM decoding up to 32bit/384kHz, with native DSD512 support, such is the power of Lumin's new processor.

Analogue inputs are covered by a pair of unbalanced RCA outputs, and a pair of balanced XLR outputs, allowing the connection of analogue sources, such as a feed from a turntable via a phono stage, or a reel to reel cassette deck.

A coaxial digital output covers PCM up to 44.1/192kHz and DSD64 (DoP64).

An optical digital input covers PCM up to 44.1/192kHz and DSD64 (DoP64).

A balanced AES/EBU digital input up to 44.1/192kHz and DSD64 (DoP64).

A USB input covers up to 32bit/384kHz and DSD128 (DoP128)

Three HDMI inputs will handle 2.0 PCM, and also pass through 4K video, including HDR, and DolbyVision.

Analogue outputs are covered by a pair of 3 volt unbalanced RCA outputs, and a pair of 6 volt balanced XLR outputs, allowing direct connection to suitable fixed or variable analogue components such as amplifiers, power amplifiers, and active loudspeakers. Volume can be controlled by the connection equipment, or via Lumin's own lossless digital volume control via the free control app.
